Mom: " I made popcorn, do you want some?"
Tyler: "What can I have?"
Mom: "Oh, I forgot. Sorry buddy."
Mom: "Do you guys want some gum?"
Tyler: "What can I have?"
Mom: "Ahhh. Sorry Tyler."
Mom: "I bought corn on the cob for dinner!"
Tyler, looking crestfallen: "What?"
Mom: "I'll cut yours off the cob Ty, sorry."
When are we done with these stupid things?!?

WHAT am I going to do with this girl??!
Okay, so Evie had a rough day all the way around today. The morning started off with her having a 15 minute tantrum because she could not find the hair bow she wanted. Then she gave Tyler a hard time on the way to school. Thankfully, the teacher reported she had a good day all day long, but by the time we got back home, she was at it again.
Three times I told her to move a paper that she had shown me. She replied in the affirmative each time. ("Okay mommy.") Yet there it sat. So 3 minutes after I told her the third time, I picked it up, threw it in the recycle bin, and took the bin outside. You know where this is heading... Another 15-20 minute tantrum later, she had finally calmed herself enough to come downstairs. And then she said it. "Mommy, do you leave the doors open after you go to bed?"
Seriously?? Was she REALLY going to sneak downstairs and outside after we went to bed to retrieve her paper?? Just in case she tries it, I guess we will be enabling the "chime" feature on the doors.

I guess she showed me...
Yesterday, Evie came downstairs wearing a pair of sparkly black capri-tights, and a black tulle tutu type skirt with rhinestones on it, and her UConn women's championship T-shirt. I told her that although I loved the T-shirt, it didn't really go with the rest of the outfit because it wasn't dressy enough. She told me it was what she wanted to wear, so I dropped it because although I thought she looked silly, I wasn't fighting that battle.
Later that morning I yelled at her for something. She crossed her arms and went upstairs with a pout on her face. When she came down 5 minutes later, she walked by me wearing a smirk and her Univ of TN bright orange t shirt. (UConn women's basketball #1 rival. The ONLY reason she is allowed to have a Vols shirt is that cousin Kev is interning there and sent it to her.) The girl is FIVE. I can only imagine where we're headed when she is 15...

Dinner time funnies
I wanted to title this blog "Friday Night Funnies" because I like the alliteration, but it's Monday, so "Dinner Time Funnies" it is. Actually, it could also be titled "Gabrielle's Dinner Time Funnies" as they are both regarding her.
As we sat down to eat, Gabrielle announced she was glad we were having a salad because she hadn't had one in a while. I guess I should preface this by saying that she has recently been talking about becoming a vegetarian. Dennis told her she should get used to eating salad given her latest ruminations. And she said, "It's gonna be hard to give up some meat 'cuz I like tacos so much. And meatballs. Wait, are meatballs made of meat?" Luckily she realized what she was saying as it came out of her mouth, otherwise I'm not sure how long it would have taken for her to live that one down!
Then later, she was talking about wanting a convertible Mustang when she begins to drive. Dennis mentioned that she would not be getting a convertible Mustang until she was paying for her own insurance. Somehow the conversation turned to insurance rates going down when you get married to which Dennis had to interject "Except when it doesn't." And Gabrielle said to him, "Is this about mom's tickets? Aren't you over that yet?" HA! Okay, maybe it was just Gabrielle and I that found that one funny.
